Emgees

This review is also available on burrp!

The new popular place for office-goers in the MG Road area to grab a quick, healthy veggie lunch, Emgees is located in The Shelton Grand, which also has a lounge bar – The Bar Code, Ming Ling, an oriental restaurant and BTDT, a 24-hour coffee shop.  The name of the restaurant is, of course, based on how local Bangaloreans refer to MG Road lovingly.  You can enter this place from Church Street as well.

The décor is straightforward and the place has a strong air of “business-hotel” and seems to cater to the corporate crowd. Food is multi-cuisine, but my suggestion would be to stick with the Indian items. In keeping with the “veggie, veggie, healthy” tagline, they have a little counter which has fresh fruits and serves as the juice bar.  We ordered the watermelon juice and the fresh lime water and as promised it was fresh and yummy.  Main course consisted of methi rotis, aloo simla and corn palak.  The methi rotis were fresh and warm, the aloo simla –potatoes in an onion gravy, was perfect and the corn palak hit the healthy button.  All the items had just the right amount of spice in them, were delicious and were not oily.

Emgees is an ideal place for a business lunch or a quick bite.  The service is fast.  A meal for two is approximately Rs.250.
